The Talley Trio

Debra In gospel music circles, few names are respected and admired as much as Debra Talley. Born and raised in Clinton, Kentucky, Debra sang in church from an early age until she began her gospel music career with the Song Masters over 30 years ago. When not on the road, she coordinates the many responsibilities of the group and her family. Debra has received seven Singing News Fan Awards, four Southern Gospel Music Association awards, and numerous nominations for Female Vocalist and Alto of the Year. She has also co-written several songs recorded by the Talley Trio. Her velvety alto voice and gracious persona endear her to all that meet her. Debra enjoys decorating, gardening, watching HGTV, and shopping in her spare time.

Lauren Born into a rich musical heritage, Lauren Talley has become one of the most versatile young artists in Christian music. This extremely talented young lady with a passion for music and life is quite serious about the message she portrays through the music. Lauren has received three Singing News Fan Awards for Favorite Young Artist, the SGN Music Award for Female Vocalist of the Year and the Southern Gospel Music Award for Female Soloist. She has released three solo recordings, Lauren Talley, Surrender, and I Live. She has appeared on the long-running CBS show Touched By An Angel, and in the family film The Missy Files. Lauren also performs background vocals on many recordings for artists such as Randy Travis, Ivan Parker and Mark Bishop. She is pursuing a degree in business administration, and when not behind a microphone, watches as many basketball and football games as possible, especially the University of Tennessee Lady Vols.

Roger An East Tennessee native, Roger Talley began singing with and playing piano for his family at a young age. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in agricultural business, he began his career playing piano for the Hoppers and has continued for over 30 years. Roger is an accomplished pianist, producer and arranger and has been awarded for his achievements in the recording studio from the Southern Gospel Music Guild Harmony Honors in 2004 and the SGN Music Awards in 2007 for Producer of the Year. He co-owns The Summit recording studio in Morristown, Tennessee. Roger has produced projects for such artists as Jake Hess, Ivan Parker, the John Hagee Family, the Collingsworth Family, the Kingsmen, and of course, Lauren Talley’s solo recordings, as well as all projects by the Talley Trio. Roger is an avid sports fan and enjoys following all University of Tennessee sports teams, especially the Tennessee Lady Vols, and the Tennessee Titans.

Roger, Debra and Lauren Talley are a
musical family devoted to God and each other.
While their roots are in southern gospel music,
the east Tennessee family has developed a unique,
progressive sound that combines southern gospel with praise
and worship, hymns and other styles.
The hallmarks of the “Talley” sound are their lush
arrangements, close-knit harmonies and powerful vocals.

The Talley Trio’s top priority in concert is to lift up Christ
in their music while presenting the gospel to the listener
through song and testimony.
Their professionalism and pursuit of excellence is only superseded
by their ability to connect with an audience through the message
of love, grace and forgiveness.

Roger and Debra Talley have enjoyed many years at the forefront of gospel music.
They began their individual careers with other groups in the 1970’s,
and from 1984 to 1993, The Talleys, consisting of Roger, Debra and Roger’s brother, Kirk,
were one of Christian music’s most acclaimed and beloved trios,
receiving a 1992 Dove Award. During this time,
Lauren grew up traveling with her family beginning at age one.
She would sing a song and quote Bible verses during the trio’s concert,
to the delight of fans. In 1993, Roger and Debra felt the need to
disband the group and spend time at home with
ten-year-old Lauren as a normal family. During the three years
spent at home, Lauren’s love of singing and desire to share what
God placed in her heart grew.
Roger, Debra and Lauren began performing together on a
limited basis in 1996 as the Talley Trio. While they never intended
to form a new group, their success was
overwhelming, and the Talley Trio now carries on the family tradition.

They have enjoyed seven number one singles, with six
occurring consecutively. The Talleys travel in excess of
100 dates per year, ranging from church settings to the
Gaither Homecoming Concert Tour, cruises with Pastor John Hagee
and overseas tours to Northern Ireland, Italy, South Africa and Norway.
Their songs and recordings have won numerous accolades from
the Singing News Fan Awards, the Southern Gospel Music Guild Harmony Honors,
the Southern Gospel Music Association, the BMI Awards, and the SGN Music Awards.
Their hits, “Testify,” and “The Healer,” were honored in 2002 and 2003
respectively with the BMI Award for radio airplay.
Their latest project, Rise Above, received four SGN Music Awards in 2007,
including Album of the Year and Song of the Year for “Mountain Mover.”
Their 2005 project, Praise For The Ages, also received the SGN Music Award
for Album of the Year. Their number one hit, “His Life For Mine,”
received the 2006 Southern Gospel Music Guild Harmony Honor for Song of the Year.

Although the Talleys are involved in many endeavors and
continue to keep a busy traveling and recording schedule, they cherish
their time spent together. Whether on a concert stage, in a church
sanctuary, at a basketball game, or having a quiet dinner at home, their
focus remains God and family.
